Program Description:  Many organizations are recognizing the power of restorative practices to transform their workplaces, build stronger relationships, and foster a culture of accountability and empathy. This workshop explores the core principles of restorative practices, offering participants a comprehensive understanding of how to center community, cultivate mutual respect, and address instances of harm effectively. Through a combination of interactive exercises and in-depth discussions, participants will explore how restorative approaches can benefit both personal and professional relationships within their organization. Participants will gain insights into how to navigate challenging situations with empathy and equity, ultimately contributing to the creation of a workplace environment grounded in trust and community.

Goal: To empower practical application of restorative practices, fostering environments grounded in trust, accountability, and empathy.

Objectives: 

a.      Participants will cultivate a basic understanding of the key concepts of restorative practices.

b.      Participants will recognize the connections between restorative practices, equity, and justice.

c.      Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to respond to incidents of harm personally and as an organization.

d.      Participants will workshop how to infuse restorative practices into internal and external operations and interactions.

Workshop Outline:

Grounding – Intro, Objectives, and Community Guidelines (20 mins 9:00am-9:20am)

Key terms, Restorative Practices Overview and Foundational Elements (20 mins 9:20am-9:40am)

Components of Restorative practices- Social Discipline Window & Restorative Practices Continuum (15 mins 9:40am-9:55am)

Harm Repair Prep and Steps to Harm Repair (15 mins 9:55am-10:10am)

Harm Repair Exercises and Applied Practice (30 mins 10:10am-10:40am)

Tools for Restorative Practices Inclusion Closing Listening Circle (20 mins 10:40am-11:00am)
