Training Description: Human sexuality and gender expression are ever changing and fluid components of all human beings. In the mental health field, it is imperative that practitioners understand the scope of these identity characteristics and how they impact mental health and treatment. This live webinar aims to present human sexuality and affirmative care as a foundational skill for all practitioners regardless of client population.
Goals:
- How to provide affirmative and inclusive mental health treatment

Program Description: Motivational Interviewing is an empirically supported clinical practice used to address ambivalence with clients who are in the process of change. This training will introduce participants to an overview of motivation interviewing and the populations and symptoms that have it has been demonstrated to be effective with. An introduction to the basic underlying assumptions and principles, as well as the specific skills associated with motivational interviewing, will be presented using a variety of learning modalities. Personality Disorders are highly prevalent among people who are experiencing chronic mental and emotional illnesses such as Anxiety and Mood Disorders. This training will explore what personality disorders are, how they develop, and why it is important to recognize and accurately diagnose personality disorders, particularly in high-risk individuals with numerous comorbidities. Complexities related to diagnosis will be explored and the integrated model of diagnosis as represented in the DSM-5-TR will be presented. This training will also provide an overview of evidence informed treatment strategies as well as tips for managing challenging behaviors, maintaining therapeutic boundaries, and delivering culturally sensitive and ethically sound care.
